The "One Another's" of Accountability

~*~ It all starts in Genesis... "Then the LORD God said, 'It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.' "

God has not made us to remain alone....we need one another, no matter we might say we don't... You can fool me, and even yourself by saying you don't need another person's help, encouragement, understanding, caring, love..But you cannot fool Him...He knows how you really feel about it...

I am very grateful for my teens youth group... Here is what we talked about one day.. (Yes, I have saved the notes.. :P )

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10,12 "Two are better off than one...If one of them falls down, the other can reach out and help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it's just too bad, because there is no one to help him... Two men can resist an attack that would defeat one man alone. A rope made of three cords is hard to break."

  • Serve one another ~ Galatians 5:13 "You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love."

  • Accept one another ~ Romans 15:7 "Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God."

  • Forgive one another ~ Colossians 3:13 "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."

  • Encourage one another ~ Hebrews 3:13 "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness."

  • Great one another ~ Romans 16:16 "Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ send greetings."

  • Bear one another's burdens ~ Galatians 6:2 "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

  • Be devoted to one another ~ Romans 12:10 "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."

  • Honor one another ~ Romans 12 :10 "Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves."

  • Teach one another ~ Romans 15:14 "I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another."

  • Submit to one another ~ Ephesians 5:21 "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ."

Some positive things that come from accountability:

  • "Let us think of one another and how we can encourage each other to love and do good deeds" ~ Hebrews 10:24 --- Helps us be thinking of each other... :)

  • "People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron." ~ Proverbs 27:17 --- It says it clear enough...we all know that "two heads are better than one" and we can learn a lot more from one another..

  • "But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness." ~ Hebrews 3:13 --- We can alert! each other when we're about to fall to sin...

  • "Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently....Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ." ~ Galatians 6:1-2 --- And even if we do sin, we can be there for each other and help them out... restore them to continue their walk with the Lord..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now you know what accountability of one another is and how important it is for us all. I suggest you choose at least one person to keep you accountable for whatever you need to. It could be for any reason actually like: for encouraging you to keep in touch with the Lord and get closer to Him, or for trying to do some work you need to finish in time because something else is distracting you, for sharing thoughts and feelings, for lifting you up in prayer, etc. (For e.i.: I personally have chosen one person to keep me accountable about the time I spent online on chats and the things I should and need to get done.)
Also look around you everyday. I am sure that there is at least one person almost every day that really need you to keep them accountable for something... They need your greeting, your smile, your encouragement, your service, your forgiveness, your acceptance, your teaching, your help, your friendship... What does it cost you to pay a little more attention to others needs? Wouldn't you also like them to pay you attention and care about you?
Just make it a habit, and become a true Jesus follower. By showing some Christ-like accountability to one another we also fulfill the second great commandment:
"Love your neighbor as you love yourself" ~ Matthew 22:39 ~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And now I'm off to think some more about this...and see who needs my accountability and what areas I need people to keep me accountable for. I encourage you do the same too...Spend some time in prayer...and listen carefully what God is trying to tell you... He will bring the people you need in your life...and He WILL use them and you for His glory! Blessings my friends! Peace!

In Christ,

~ El ♥

I need You

Ok, I guess everybody knows I'm getting through some very hard, busy and decisive time. Today I've been thinking a lot about this, and suddenly I got inspired of writing a song of my own. Well..I guess.. it tells everything I'm feeling.. lately.. So here it is:

I Need You
I need Your strength
I need Your will
I need everything You
can give.

I need Your blessings
and Your Grace
All I need is You
In this race..

What can I say... I really need Him..

Addition to the Note:

This was a song I wrote during the hard time I was going through deciding which college to go to. I think it was one Monday, June 2nd 2008. By the way, now that I remember the date I have to mention that the very same night (or next day) on June 3rd 2008 I randomly got to know a wonderful friend (through a christian chat)! He was willing to pray for me that night, and so even today we remain great friends. I just wished I didn't live too far away so I could meet him in person too. But who knows...maybe it is in God's plans that I meet him someday. If not in this world, then I will for sure meet him in Heaven. :)

The Tornado Eye

For those who don't know in the very center of the tornado's body is a very quiet and peaceful atmosphere/place called the tornado "eye". If we stay outside the tornado everything is so windy and messy..everything is getting destroyed by its strength.
Now, close your eyes for a moment and think about a specific situation, a really tough time(or at least you first thought it was) you've been through before in your life. Didn't it look like a real tornado to you? Didn't it seem to you that no matter what you did, no matter you tried to escape to find a more quiet place, the tornado was coming after you to catch you? Where would you go then? It was going to catch you anyway. Now remember what I told you about the tornado's eye. If we go inside, at the very center of the tornado we will be peaceful and safe until it is all gone. So our only and one solution is to go inside and through the tornado's body. We have to.

But who is the tornado in our real life?
The tornado is our everyday life, our everyday old and new challenge, our everyday giant and our everyday temptation. I'm sure you can name it even more specifically.
Who do you turn to when you face all these? Do you really trust your week knees to escape from it? Or do you turn for help to the Big Creator of the universe who knows the way out?
For your very best, I really hope it's the last one.
God, the Lord Almighty is the tornado's eye. Just like the tornado's eye lies from the top to the bottom of the tornado's body, so is the Lord with you throughout your hard time.
Bad situations and hard times help us grow more. God did not promise we would never go through tough times. His everlasting and ever-keeping promise was that He would always be by our side and would never ever abandon us! He will always make us strong and help us overcome everything! ( Isaiah 41:10 "Do not be afraid - I am with you! I am your God - let nothing terrify. I will make you strong and help you. I will protect you and save you!"). And those who trust Him and fully rely on Him will shout "VICTORY!!" at the end of the tornado/battle!

Isn't that wonderful? If we already have the Solution, why struggle for another one? Especially when we know we can never find a better one and much more successful than Him.

At last, I fully believe that I have won the greatest war, that of accepting Christ in my life. Those that I'm facing in this life are just little battles...which I'm sure will end up with victories, cause I have the strongest Shield and Armor. My sharpest Sword will kill all the giants and defeat all my enemies!

Therefore I say to you again, to trust to the Lord your life and worries. Because He is your only One Solution and the safest Guide who knows the way out to your tornado.

Note: God, the Lord almighty = the tornado Eye, Big Creator, Solution, Sword, Shield, Armor, Guide.

Addition to the note:
~It is amazing how God can talk to you through little details! I did the above drawing around December 2008! and only after almost two years God reveals me this message! He's got his own timing...and this is another message/lesson He wants us to get. :)

I ♥ Him!! ^_^

Ah, and btw, I've always loved tornados!! ^_^

“My Revelation through Proverbs”

It just turned Wednesday, August 6th 2008 and I lied dead tired on bed. It had been a very long and tiring day, but I still had thoughts spinning in my head. I realized it had been a long time without reading God’s word. So I got my Bible and randomly opened it at Proverbs. I started reading and while reading I would strangely focus on specific words that caught my whole attention. This made me think about doing something really beautiful, for myself first of all and why not, for you as well. The wise book of Proverbs is maybe the clearest one for me that shows how God really wants to shape us like and what He wants us to be. Now, I’m sure this might not be new to you, but you know what? The more I think I have learned and I have it clear in my mind what God want people in general to be like, the more I realize I need to learn it again. I need to read it again and I need to hear it again and again. And trust me, I’ll never quit reading Proverbs as often as I can. But that’s for sure that reading isn’t enough. Putting it into practice is even more important than just reading it.

Well, lets get to the point. This is what I figured out at 12:30 am :) This is what God wants you to be (you- meaning myself and you who hopefully are going to read this).

Ever since He created us, God’s purpose has always been for us to be Christ like. This should always be our purpose as well.

1. God wants you to be honest because:
Proverbs 10:10 “Someone who holds back the truth causes trouble, but one who openly criticizes works for peace.”

2. God wants you to be modest because:
Proverbs 11:2 “People who are proud will soon be disgraced. It is wiser to be modest.”

3. God wants you to be trustworthy because:
Proverbs 11:13 “No one who gossips can be trusted with a secret, but you can put confidence in someone who is trustworthy.”

4. God wants you to be kind because:
Proverbs 11:17 “You do yourself a favor when you are kind. If you are cruel, you only hurt yourself.”

5. God wants you to be generous because:
Proverbs 11:25 “Be generous and you will be prosperous. Help others and you will be helped.”

6. God wants you to be righteous because:
Proverbs 11:30 “Righteousness gives life, but violence takes it away.”
Proverbs 12:28 “Righteousness is the road to life, but wickedness is the road to death.”

7. God wants you to be a hard worker because:
Proverbs 12:24 “Hard work will give you power, being lazy will make you a slave.”

8. God wants you to be a good man because:
Proverbs 14:14 “Bad people will get what they deserve. Good people will be rewarded for their deeds.”

9. God wants you to be intelligent because:
Proverbs 12:8 “If you are intelligent, you will be praised; if you are stupid people will look down on you.”

10. God wants you to be a good listener because:
Proverbs 18:13 “Listen before you answer. If you don’t you are being stupid and insulting.”

11. God wants you to be sensible because:
Proverbs 22:3 “Sensible people will see trouble coming and avoid it, but an unthinking person will walk right into it and regret it later.”

12. God wants you to be a giver because:
Proverbs 19:17 “When you give to the poor, it is like lending to the Lord, and the Lord will pay you back.”
Proverbs 28:27 “Give to the poor and you will never be in need. If you close your eye to the poor, many people will curse you.”

13. God wants you to be obedient because:
Proverbs 19:23 “Obey the Lord, and you will live a long life, content and safe from harm.”
Proverbs 28:4 “If you have no regard for the law, you are on the side of the wicked; but if you obey it you are against them.”

14. God wants you to be selfless because:
Proverbs 28:22 “Selfish people are in such a hurry to get rich that they do not know when poverty is about to strike.”

15. God wants you to be humble because:
Proverbs 29:23 “Arrogance will bring your downfall, but if you are humble you will be respected.”

16. God wants you to be calm because:
Proverbs 14:29 “If you stay calm, you are wise, but if you have hot temper, you only show how stupid you are.”
Proverbs 29:22 “People with quick tempers cause a lot of quarreling and trouble.”

17. God wants you to be a truth-speaking person because:
Proverbs 25:18 “A false accusation is as deadly as a sword, a club, or a sharp arrow.”

18. God wants you to be helpful because:
Proverbs 18:19 “Help your brother and he will protect you like a strong city wall, but if you quarrel with him, he will close his doors to you.”

19. God wants you to be friendly because:
Proverbs 25:21-22 “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him to drink. You will make him burn with shame, and the Lord will reward you.”

20. God wants you to be careful because:
Proverbs 27:18 “Take care of a fig tree and you will have figs to eat. A servant who takes care of his master will be honored.”
Proverbs 27:23-24 “Look after your sheep and cattle as carefully as you can, because wealth is not permanent. Not even nations last forever.”

21. God wants you to be discreet because:
Proverbs 25:9-10 “If you and your neighbor have a difference of opinion, settle it between yourselves and do not reveal any secrets. Otherwise everyone will learn that you can’t keep a secret, and you will never live down the shame.”

22. God wants you to be silent and quiet (sometimes) because:
Proverbs 17:28 “After all, even a fool may be thought wise and intelligent if he stays quiet and keeps his mouth shut.”

23. God wants you to be a reliable messenger because:
Proverbs 25:13 “A reliable messenger is a refreshing to the one who sends him, like cold water in the heat of harvest time.”

24. God wants you to be His follower because:
Proverbs 29:26 “Everybody wants the good will of the ruler, but only from the Lord can you get justice.”
Proverbs 30:5 “God keeps every promise he makes. He is like a shield for all who seek His protection.”

25. God wants you to be real-you because:
Proverbs 27:19 “It is your own face that you see reflected in the water and it is your own self that you see in your heart.”
